Wireless Internet
Free! All you need is your wireless-enabled laptop and a browser application to log onto the FPPL network. Please be aware that the library does not offer hardware support. If you need help setting up your laptop for wireless access, you’ll need to contact the manufacturer directly.
Adult Services Computers
There are six public access Adult Services computers. Use of these computers is limited to one hour per person, per day. Reservations may be made in advance by phone or in person. The last six digits of your Library Card barcode are required to make a reservation. If calling for a reservation, ask for or select the Computer Reservations extension.
Use Requirements:
- Forest Park Library card in good standing
- Signed User Agreement
- Patrons must be 14 and up
- Parental/Guardian signature is required for patrons 14-18
- Printouts cost $0.10 per page. Patrons are financially responsible for all printouts, so please monitor your printing carefully.
Computer appointments are always made on the hour and/or the half-hour. There are no guarantees for specific computers. The computers are to be used solely “at your own risk”. For example, files saved to the hard drive may be deleted at any time; there is no guarantee of personal privacy, and you should be extremely careful about using credit card, financial, or other personal information. There is no guarantee that our virus scan will detect every virus.
Assistive Technology for our Blind and Visually Impaired Patrons
The library is working hard to ensure that all our patrons are able to benefit from our public computers. One of our workstations is set up with an extra-large monitor, and software installed on this computer allows Internet and word processing files to be seen in large type. The capabilities of this computer continue to be expanded, so please check with the reference desk to see what services are currently offered!
Youth Services Computers
There are five Internet computers available in the Youth Services Department, located across from the YS Service Desk. Children must have parental authorization to access these computers, and they must have a Forest Park Library card in good standing.
There are also two Early Literacy Stations, which are designed to meet the needs of toddlers and preschoolers. Each station is packed with fun and educational games that will entertain children while teaching them important technological and literacy skills.
